The Tomme de Savoie is probably the most well-known of all the Tomme cheeses, a vast family of mountain cheeses from France, Italy and Switzerland. Created by French farmers to provide an essential source of protein throughout the winter, this semihard cheese is earthy and nutty.

Characteristics: strongly grassy aroma with the sweet flavour of fudge, milk and walnuts.

Best with: Great with bread and salad or fruit.
